Self-taught painter Patrick Hasson has created a style he’s dubbed as 'Dripping'. Never utilizing a brush, Hasson lies his (wood) canvas horizontally and drips/pours acrylic house paint down onto it; manipulating the paint with nails and various sharp objects to create motion and dimension in a technique that falls somewhere between Jackson Pollock’s action painting and Van Gogh’s impasto. Obsessed and extremely particular with color, Hasson uses six custom colors in his paintings, mostly on black canvases. Following his acclaimed desert rock debut series, 'Desert Dudes,' (which featured the more notable musicians—Brant Bjork, Josh Homme, Mario Lalli, et al—who created ‘Desert Rock’) Hasson is currently engaged in the classic rock portrait series '1969,' featuring the musical legends (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, etc.) that made 1969 the greatest year in rock music history. Hasson’s work can be found in private collections in the US and Europe and is on display at his world-famous 'livable art' retreats, Rancho De Colores and The Rainbow House, both located in Joshua Tree, CA.
